Techniques Test - Manipulation After Printing

Techniques Test - Manipulation After Printing

I printed the same photo a few times that I have used in previous techniques tests. This is so I can see how each technique changes the image without the image itself taking apart each time.

I referred to a previous post on Initial Techniques. On the post, there was a mind map of ideas. I have gone through the mind map and tried some of the techniques out.

Point Number One
This is referring to a different colour on the mind map. For this, I was trying to do a layer of paint a bit like a filter. I was aiming for it to be very transparent. The paint to start with did not go on the paper like I thought it would. I found that for it to be more transparent I need to add water.

Point Number Two
This is to do with cutting away light areas. I just simply cut away the areas that I thought was light. This was the sky and the reflecting glass window at the edge of the image. This isn't clear what I have done to the image from just looking at. Maybe making that area black instead would work better.

Point Number Three
With this one, I was referring to combining two photos. For this, I used a photo that was on acetate. I just used a photo that I had on acetate for the example. I do though like how it has worked. I would though think more about the image I would use.

Point Number Four
Here I have used part of the previous point three and another point that is to follow. I was using the frame that was made and putting another image in the frame. I feel this would work if the image was thought out and an example was not used.

Point Number Five
For this, the idea is to take away the image but leaving a frame. The frame that is left is part of the image but not vital to its meaning. This is a way to take away but still leaving something to show it was there.

Point Number Six
This is to do with covering up by stitching into the photograph. For this, I have used a dark blue thread over the area of the Shard in the photograph.

Point Number Seven
This is relating to cutting up. This was done by cutting up into squares that are then spaced out. With the squares, it sort of makes you look at the photo in segments. This could be explored into more by looking at different ways to cut up the photograph.

Point Number Eight
With this, I was trying to look at taking the top layer of hoping it would leave something faint behind. This did not work how I expected. This may have something to do with the paper it was printed on.

Point Number Nine
With this, I used a pen which was ink. I drew over the photo with around the buildings  and certain details. I like the effect of this but it doesn't really take anything away but adding to the image instead.
