TST and Feedback

TST and Feedback

Today I have had a peer assessment on the TST. In the end, I used photographs from my first roll of film as my second roll did not turn out well. As my project is about taking away in my first roll of film I took photographs of objects that I would l use to manipulate the photograph. While printing I wanted to take away from the photograph as well. I tried out different techniques. But I liked the effect of putting tape over certain areas of the photograph taking that object away from the photograph. With the final I did this with a photograph that is out focus. The reason I did this with the focus out was that it was taking another element away. This also took some of the objects Identity away. With the tape being taken off it left that certain area of the paper to go blue. This is because that area is still light sensitive as it was covered up while being developed. The blue which is there gives an idea of tape being there.

Techniques Test - Digital

Techniques Test

I have taken a photograph that I have taken and changed it digitally. The photograph was not taken for this purpose. I just wanted to use it to test some techniques out. I have changed it in different ways trying to take something away. I have also used an image that is a building.

Techniques Test - By Hand

Techniques Test

From doing artist research on Amy Friend I decided that I would get some old photographs and do some hand manipulation to them. I went to a charity shop to get some old photographs. I tried to get ones of buildings or architecture  as that is my subject area that I am doing. As if I look back on the work to review or to see if that technique worked it won't be any good as that technique my work with portraits but maybe not architecture.

Amy Friend

The work that I am looking at that uses a technique of putting holes through the photograph. She has old photographs from either personal or an impersonal point. She makes small holes let the light through. This then changes the meaning. They are once manipulated re-photographed. The work looks at the "visible and non visible". The series is called Dare all Luce. This means "to bring to the light".
