Artist Research 2

Artist Research

Amy Friend

The work that I am looking at that uses a technique of putting holes through the photograph. She has old photographs from either personal or an impersonal point. She makes small holes let the light through. This then changes the meaning. They are once manipulated re-photographed. The work looks at the "visible and non visible". The series is called Dare all Luce. This means "to bring to the light".

I like how it adds another element to the photograph. But it doesn't overpower the recreated photograph. It is interesting to look at the photograph and think about what it was originally taken for. I think in some areas of the photograph the added element brings attention to things that maybe you wouldn't have seen before it was altered.
